🇪🇸 Rich organized a private bike tour with José María Suárez Martínez for shipmates Anne, Floyd and Renee, and Ride #22 became one of our favorites, at only €25 each. Las Palmas native José was a fount of local knowledge, very personable and a great guide. We biked around the well maintained Vegueta old city, including the impressive Vegueta Mercado where we sampled fruits and drank locally grown coffee. We rode on a scenic seaside path and nicely laid out bike paths downtown. His geared regular Dutch bikes were adequate for the flat terrain. After the tour we walked over to the spectacular Canteras Beach promenade on the opposite side of the peninsula from the busy harbour and cruise port, where we enjoyed lunch and gelato overlooking the water. Un dia agradable! Then, just like Columbus we left Grand Canaria Island to follow the tradewinds to the New World.
