πΊπΈ It was back to LA Harbor in San Pedro for the sad departure. The four month long, 116 day World Cruise 2025 even exceeded our expectations. We knew the 43 port days would be fabulous but we also loved the 73 sea days, never tiring of gazing at the ocean, running around between 3 to 5 trivia matches, ukulele early on, pickleball, meals, then evenings in Explorer's Lounge with groups of new friends and the less crowded late performance in the theatre. What a wonderful routine and the best part was getting to know so many wonderful people whether on for a segment or the whole journey.
In summary, en route 'round the globe we crossed 4 oceans, 11 seas, the International Date Line, the equator twice, the Panama Canal, and touched 6 continents and 17 islands in 21 countries.
We accomplished our goal to βBicycle 'round the worldβ on all six continents, at ports where biking was a good option. The rides were mostly great, but standouts were in Cape Town (private e-MTB game Safari and W Coast NP), Puglia region, Italy (Locorotondo to Alberobello) and Rottnest Island off Perth Australia, home of the quokkas.
Bicycle ride stats are:
Total rides: 25. 22 on e-bikes. 3 flat city tours on regular bikes. 17 with a local guide, 8 rentals unguided.
Cancelled due to weather and/or port changes π 6
Continents: 6 (Australia, Africa, Europe, Asia, North and South America)
Islands: 12 Countries: 15
Although sad to leave our life on the Island Princess we were glad to see our friend Al who picked us up and nice to be back to our home in Oceanside.
Here are some parting shots with captions.
Thanks for following us around the world!
Happy healthy trails to all π₯°
