🇳🇿 Napier is known for great weather and beautiful beaches on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Its Central Business District (CBD) consists of very appealing 1930's era art deco architecture. We rented e-bikes at Napier City Bike Hire along with shipmates Claire and Bill. Cost was $147NZD ($80USD) for two. Their friends, Scott and Virginia, also started out, but did not fare very well and turned back. The city boasts an excellent trail system, “Hawke’s Bay Trails,” along the ocean and inland wetlands. We biked ~29 mostly flat km's on a beautiful day, getting directions from helpful Kiwi's en route. Afterwards we stopped for gelato and Claire and Rich did some limited shopping in the CBD, including a friendly jade store where we found a jade dolphin pendant for Steve. It's a shame that the on board time was 1:30 pm, we would have liked to spend a few more hours here.
